Mark 7:8
You leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men.
Homily:
There are 10 commandments, simplified into 2 when Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40
Read God's Word and pray for understanding.
The traditions which men set as requirements for righteousness are biased to the times.
You serve a timeless God.
The traditions of men are an unequally yoked burden, ultimately undermining God's word.
Heed the advice Jesus Christ -
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart; and you will find rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30
It is harder to live under the yoke of tradition than the yoke of God's word. And only God's word holds the promise of forever. Go to God.
